Ron Nehring is a Crest resident of more than 20 years.
In November 2020, Ron Nehring was elected to the Crest Dehesa Harbison Canyon Granite Hills Planning Group and will take office in January 2021.
With deep roots in the community, Ron Nehring previously served as a Trustee for our local Grossmont Union High School District where he chaired the Audit Committee. In 2005, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Ron to the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection to serve as a voice for the victims of wildfire.
Ron Nehring's highest priority for the region is improving wildfire safety, which must be at the center of our community planning process given the geography, weather conditions and fuel buildup in the area. Fire access and egress routes with clear signage, multiple evacuation routes for residents, close monitoring of fire road conditions, and fuel reduction in the area are critically important to area residents.
As a strong proponent of individual liberty and freedom, Ron Nehring has taught the skills related to democratic governance in some of the most challenging regions on Earth including in Iraq, North Africa, the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and South America. He has served as an international elections observer in Honduras and Kenya and can be frequently seen providing analysis to news media outlets around the world.
Active in public life for more than 30 years, Ron Nehring previously served as Chairman of the Republican Party in the state of California and San Diego County. He was the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor of California in 2014, receiving over 3.1 million votes.
Ron Nehring was born on Long Island and is the son of German immigrants who came to America in the 1960's in search of liberty and freedom. He holds a BA from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and took graduate studies at the American University in Washington, DC.
