Homes in Crest, Harbison Canyon and the surrounding communities are at high risk for wildfire. The charts here, provided by the US Forest Service, indicate our communities have a high wildfire likelihood, and high potential consequence of wildfire.
Homeowners should recognize the risk posed not only by a wildfire front, but by the embers (firebrands) which can be blown a mile or more beyond the fire front. At the community level, planning can be used to reduce risk, while at the homeowner level, steps should be taken to reduce ignition risk and improve defensible space. |
