IMPROVE WILDFIRE SAFETY
Voting in Crest, Dehesa, Harbison Canyon and Granite Hills
All California voters were sent a ballot by the County Registrar of Voters. If you didn't receive one, call the San Diego Registrar of Voters at (858) 565-5800.
RETURNING YOUR COMPLETED BALLOT. Your ballot comes with a postage paid envelope, which you can use to return it by mail. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by Election Day and received no later than the Friday after the Election. Or, you can return your completed, sealed and signed ballot to any of the official San Diego County drop locations. The libraries in Crest, Alpine and El Cajon all are official ballot drop locations where you can return your ballot Monday through Friday between 10 AM and 4 PM, on Saturday October 31 or Sunday November 1 between 10 AM and 4 PM, or on Election Day, November 3, from 7 AM to 8 PM. VOTING AT A POLLING PLACE. Depending on where in you live, you may be able to vote at a polling place. Some precincts are considered "mail ballot only," and those of us in those precincts do not have the option to vote at a local polling place. You can find out if you can vote at a local polling place using this link: San Diego County Polling Place Locator
RECEIVED TWO BALLOTS? If you live in Dehesa, Harbison Canyon or Granite Hills you received a second, supplemental ballot just for the Planning Group election. I've posted all the information about this second ballot and why you received it here: Received two ballots? Voters should complete and return both ballots using both reply envelopes.
WHAT DOES THE CREST/DEHESA/HARBISON CANYON/GRANITE HILLS PLANNING GROUP DO? Planning Groups are advisory panels created by the County of San Diego in unincorporated areas of the county to provide input on planning and land use. San Diego County's I-1 policy creates a process for Planning Groups to advise the county on updates and implementation of the region's community plan. Topics in our current community plan include local roads, fire access/egress routes, conservation and open space, among others. Planning Group members are elected, except when no election is triggered, and in that case the members are appointed. More information on Planning Groups
WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU RUNNING? I'm glad you asked! I'm Ron Nehring -- a resident of Crest for more than 20 years and a former appointee of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on the California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection. My priorities are straightforward: (1) Improve Wildfire safety, (2) Stand up against taxes, fees and tolls; and (3) Preserve the distinctive character of our communities. And: I want our roads to be in good condition and safe! More information
I really hope you found this information helpful! Please contact me if I can answer any questions.
Thank you!
